Imposter Smashers - Fun io games
4.7 / 5.0
Common Game

How long will it take you to get bored with smashing opponents with a hammer? Probably sooner than you think.

That said, this excellent mindless fun game will while away some time for you.

The object of the game is straightforward enough: go into an arena and take out as many Imposters as you can before they smash you. And that's it. There's no backstory or plot; get stuck in with your hammer.

The only interesting aspect is that as you defeat your enemies, you consume their power to grow stronger and bigger. This harks back to ancient warrior cultures that believed that by taking the life of your enemy, you were imbued with their powers.

However, this is most likely reading t● much into the game. It's more likely just a means to move the action along.

More

This game comes across as being a little thin. But then that's the whole point.

There's no epic storyline. It's just in and out. Smash up some digital dudes for fun, and then get back to what you are supposed to be doing.

It's a hammer-wielding battle to the death where only the best can survive. There are no dying planets or dystopian civilizations. No blood-thirsty aliens. Or weighing up which is the best weapon for your new task.

It's a simple, cutdown, lean machine of a game you're not expected to play for hours on end.

However, Imposter Smasher is not entirely devoid of nuance. You have a choice of roles, including:

● Assassin

● Hunter

● Trapper

● Swordsman

● Captain

● And Gunner

Each has different skills and items with which you can lay waste to your enemies.

The game developer offers some practical advice on how to play Imposter Smasher:

● Move by holding and dragging

● Get in close to smash with your hammer (you probably knew this already)

● Run fast and don't get hit.

Sound advice there from the makers, who describe Imposter Smasher quite rightly as an io game. It certainly fits the standard definition of being a minimalist, casual game that's free to play and has very few mechanisms.

While they are transparent on the limitations of their game, they are curiously reticent about where they are based. The Google Play listing has them as based in Singapore. However, with a little digging, you quickly find they are based in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, an emerging tech hub in Southeast Asia.

No idea why they are doing this when they have a .com.vn domain.

PROS

● Simple action game

● Decent graphics

● Various roles

● Multiplayer option

● You can play offline too

CONS

● Lots of ads

● Gets boring quickly

● No iOS version
